H​ave the following information available for registration:

  1. Veterinarian proof of rabies vaccination if dog is of age. (upload at time of registration or mail to the class coordinator to confirm your registration)
  2. Payment
  3. Completed registration packet

All classes will be will be held in the SEKC Clubhouse (Old McDonald’s Farm Building) on the WH Lyon Fairgrounds.

Class Policies



Puppy Kindergarten – Instructor Janet Bartosh

Saturdays, June 11 – July 9 at 9 am (6 Student Limit)

Prerequisites – All puppies must be under 6 months of age at the start of the class. This class will teach the handler and the puppy basic obedience skills while also introducing the puppy to new things while building confidence. Puppies will have a chance to test for their S.T.A.R. Puppy at the end of the class.

Barn Hunt – Instructor Kristine Hurst

Tues days, June 7 – July 12 7:30 PM (5 Student Limit) 

Prerequisites – Dogs must be at least 1 year old at the start of class. This class will introduce the dog and handler to the sport of Barn Hunt. You will learn the rules of Barn Hunt and how to compete with your dog in the ring. The dog will be introduced to rats and we will have run throughs where the dog is able to practice finding the rat.

Nose Work – Instructor Roger Lautt

May 9 – May 30 at 12 pm (3 student min & 7 student limit)

The instructor will introduce you to the world of nose Work. You will get familiar with handling your dog in the ring and learning the techniques of finding the scent.

Rally Novice – Instructor Leah Hanson

Thursdays, June 9 – July 14 at 6:15 PM (5 Student Limit)

Prerequisites: An obedience class and the ability of your dog to heel or walk loose leash next to you. This class is not just for those looking to compete, but will be taught with a focus on getting you and your dog ready to compete in Rally Novice.

Do you enjoy teaching your dog commands and tricks? Then the sport of AKC Rally might be for you. In Rally, a dog and their handler move together through a course made up of 10-20 signs. Each sign displays a skill to perform such as turns or behaviors like sit, down, or stay. The dog and handler work together and should show a sense of teamwork and enthusiasm throughout the course.

Rally Excellent – Instructor Leah Hanson

Thursdays, June 9 – July 14 at 7:15 PM (5 Student Limit)

Prerequisites - Rally Novice Title, Familiar with advanced level signs, Dog able to reliably work off leash by other dogs.

This class will focus on teams who are looking to compete in the Excellent Rally class. Each night will have a course to run through and will work through teaching the excellent level signs.

Beginner Agility – Instructor Ericka Erickson

Tuesdays, June 7 – July 12 at 6:30 PM (5 Student Limit)

Agility is a popular dog sport where your dog navigates an obstacle course for time. You will learn obstacle and handling foundation skills for starting agility training with your dog.

Open Obedience – Instructor Hollie Huss

Fridays, June 10 – July 15 at 6:30 PM (6 Student Limit)

Prerequisites – Must have taken a novice obedience class and be able to preform novice exercises satisfactorily. Dogs must be retrieving reliably and handler must bring their own dumbbell. No previous titles are necessary.

This class will be to familiarize the handler with the Open exercises. Dog will be learning the high and broad jumps. Learn to use some props and games to teach the skills needed for the Open exercises.
